Transient Glow

Transient Glow. Milford Sound has an average annual rainfall of 6813 mm/yr with up to 250 mm over 24 hrs. It is the wettest inhabited location in New Zealand, something we can attest to. The last 3 occasions we have visited have coincided with heavy rains, road flooding and rock falls. Nevertheless there are always opportunities albeit brief. This image was taken during a transient break in the heavy rains this past week, as the setting sun partially illuminated parts of Mitre Peak and the surrounding mist from the many falls.
