Our first Summer Seascape shoot for 2014-2015 at Newport Beach. Great to have a few local photographers joining us for the morning as well.
We have been focusing on some panoramic techniques for seascapes. This is a 3 image shift panorama stitched together in PS CC. There are some technical issues when stitching long exposure frames, the 2 most obvious being obtaining a coherent foreground with water movement, and not being able to easily blend together different exposures for the sky and foreground.
To overcome this we had to carefully select the correct image to stitch for foreground consistency, and used graduated ND filters for the first time in a long time.
The broad rock platform at the south end of Newport Beach is a distinguishing feature as is the Olympic Size salt water pool near it. This was also the site where one of Australia's most renowned photographers, Max Dupain took many of his images.
