The Cherry Blossoms in Osaka reached full bloom about a week before we arrived in Japan, and the trees were fairly sparse and leafy. Over the 6 days we were there, we also witnessed the gradual change. However, the Osaka Mint Bureau has traditionally late blooming trees, and specifically the yae-zakura trees (with more than five petals per blossom). The Mint Bureau is opened to the general public 1 week every year for Blossom viewing, and in 2014, it was April 13-20.
